About Us
The Bonneville-Jefferson Groundwater District is a local government organization formed by water users to protect and manage our shared groundwater supply. We work together to make sure our members have a reliable source of water for the future, while meeting state requirements and protecting the rights of others who depend on Idaho’s water. We are active in:
- Representing our members in water-related issues.
- Managing plans that keep our water use in balance with the Snake River and other water users.
- Collecting fair assessments to fund projects and meet legal obligations.
Leadership & Organization
The District is governed by a Board of Directors elected by our members in accordance with Idaho Code Title 42, Chapter 52. Directors represent specific geographic divisions within the District, ensuring fair representation for all water users. The Board sets policy, oversees finances, and directs District operations through the General Manager, who manages daily activities and implements Board decisions.
Simply put, we help our members stay in compliance, avoid curtailments, and ensure there’s enough water for everyone now and for generations to come.
